Adam back in Tas with Stompin

Hello hello. Today is the first day of my fellowship with Stompin. This is a very exciting time for me and would like to keep everyone updated on the great things we will be doing here.

On Saturday we had our audition for the project, had a fantastic turn out and a very successful day. We got a hot group of dancers!!!

The project titled Uncover This looks at the effort of keeping up appearances and what we will do to hide things we don’t want people to see.

The fellowship runs for 4 weeks and in this time we will be exploring, dissecting and exposing every facet of covering up. We have a team of 10 dancers working with me intensively as well as meeting twice a week with the entire company. This is a development period for the project and any feedback, advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Keep checking in and seeing where we’re at and shortly we will be launching You Tell Us, stories that shouldn’t be told.

What?? I'm making the next for Stompin??

guess who used to be a stompin dancer…

that’s right, that bombastic blonde from transformers - rachel taylor!

rachel joined stompin for the placement back in 2001.  she was dynamite then and as you can see, still is: once a stomper…

GO RACH! LOVE STOMPIN.

SHOP is on again!

and we welcome our newest addition to SHOP teachers and welcome back a former Stomper, Emma Porteus

another new generation through the doors

we auditioned dancers for our new project last saturday with the help of company alumni emma porteus.

yet again i’m completely amazed by the amount of talented fresh faces coming to audition for Stompin.  i don’t know if everyone realises this when they see a show, but every year we introduce up 40% new dancers to the company.  people ask why there is such a high turnover of dancers: we run them ragged!  actually it’s really a sign of how quickly people’s lives and in particular younger people’s lives are changing and taking new shifts and directions.  i’m always sad to see dancers leaving us but happy they’re making choices about what they’re putting their focus and time to and i’m alwayx re-energised and pumped to see many new dancers knocking down the door.

so, welcome to all the new dancers who will find out how they went at the audition any day now…
