le parkour, yamakasi, the art of movement

in Lab - dancer and student architect Sam, was telling me to check out something called yamakasi. guys who climb the outside of buildings and then jump from rooftop to rooftop. check out this site for cool images of their work… http://www.urbanfreeflow.com/urban_graffiti/urban_graffiti.htm

le parkour - urban freeflow

stay tuned for Sam’s pioneering of yamakasi in stompin’s next urban work!

what’s going on in Lab

during Lab i’ve been writing updates on what we’ve done in each workshop… check out my comments in the post: “experiment on this”

he’s back…

STOMPIN! I’m sitting here watching Adam Wheeler lead a choreographic workshop as a guest for Back in the Lab. Totally hot!!!

He’s back after creating some mighty fine moves with young people in the outback; sharing his experiences of mining trucks and desert dunes with our fine young thangs in the studio…

Who’s leading who? Lines blur, histories mix, generations cross… YEAH, YEAH, YEAH!

Heck - even Luke and I join in for a 5, 6, 7, 8!

experiment on this

so Lab starts on tuesday night and i’m pretty eager to get back to the studio and pick up where we left off from our workshops last december. this Lab i will be coming back to some pure movement focussed ideas that explore dynamic bursts of energy that may result in the spectucular and scary. i will also look at mischief and electric intimacy that people in tight relationships share. and i’m sure we’ll find heaps more to inspire us along the way. also taking a workshop each will be emerging choreographers and Stompin Alumni, Emma Porteous and Adam Wheeler - can’t wait dudes! see you in Lab: workshops start Tuesday 7 March 5pm-8pm

meanwhile…back at the lab
